A.C.T. 2.2 - 2.2mm Tooling Range. The latest development of the 2.2mm tooling programme supplied by Advanced Carbide Tooling Ltd covers the introduction of a new carbide insert which incorporates a chip former.
These new insert geometries are suitable for parting-off and deep radial grooving on long chipping materials up To 42mm diameter, including stainless steels together with high temperature resistant aerospace alloys.
A sintered geometry forms watch-spring shaped swarf which is narrower than the turned groove. This produces excellent surface finishes with optimum chip removal from the cutting zone.
Insert geometries include positive rakes for 'soft sticky' materials and a 9 º negative top rake which provides a strong front cutting edge, ideal for parting-off solid bar to the centre with minimal pip size. Inserts also have a 5 º and 8 º angled cutting edge, designed to eliminate residual burrs when parting off components to a hole. ACT also offer 15 º sharp cornered inserts for parting off small diameter turned parts.
Latest insert geometries along with coated and uncoated carbide and coated high speed steel grades can be supplied. Tool holders include left hand and right hand versions in five shank sizes from 10mm to 25mm square with reaches of 13mm, 16mm and 21mm.
A vee seat location is combined with a positive stop which ensures that inserts are accurately located and not pushed back during operation.
The flush fitting top clamp ensures unrivalled swarf removal from the cutting zone allowing coolant to the cutting edge maximising insert life and improving surface finish.
