‘Outstanding First Year Apprentice’ Award
November 2, 2011 – Halesowen, UK – Sandvik Coromant announces that both Ninetta (Nina) Cataldo and Harrison Waters, who after completing the first year of the Advanced Apprenticeship Technician Scheme at the EEF Technology Centre, Birmingham, have excelled in the program and were chosen by the EEF Apprentice & Skills Centre in Tyseley as joint winners of the Centre’s Award for the ‘Outstanding First Year Apprentice’. Both trainees were selected from many high caliber entrants of this year’s group.
“It has been very difficult to choose from this year’s entries, so instead of selecting just one recipient we decided for a joint award when we chose Nina and Harrison.” said Barry Jones, Recruitment & Mentoring Officer, EEF Apprentice and Skills Technology Centre. “Nina has demonstrated good engineering skills and knowledge with growing confidence, excelling in everything she did. Harrison who started his apprenticeship program much later than the main group not only progressed at an amazing pace, he also completed sections ahead of others practically and academically to a very high standard. Nina’s and Harrison’s enthusiasm and dedication for engineering will no doubt lead them into a successful, bright future.”
Both winners will continue with a three year advanced engineering apprenticeship at Sandvik Coromant, Halesowen, UK. This course will include a two year in-house technical and commercial training coupled with further coursework at the EEF. In their graduating year, both will study towards a foundation degree and receive specialist training in a department of their choice
