PCM Tooling (UK) Ltd are pleased to offer a revolutionary type of bar puller, named the “Crocodile “ by it’s developers – MPC Systems - which will reduce component production times substantially on lathes not already fitted with a bar feed system.
Tests have shown that in operation the tool enables feeding of the bar within 1,5 to 2 seconds after the previous parting off and spindle stop operations.
This is much quicker than a conventional “shortbar“ type feeder, which would take approximately 10 to 15 seconds to carry out the same operation.
This massive reduction in time, leads to reduced component manufacturing times and increased levels of profit, for users of the new tool.
The Pullex “ Crocodile “ bar puller needs no extra tool position or tool post on the lathe turret, but forms a single unit, by the method of being fitted together with the parting-off tool shank and clamped into the turret position usually reserved for parting off operations.
This enables the bar to be clamped instantaneously after the previous component is parted off and the spindle stopped.
The operation sequence is as simple as it’s description:
- Part off the previous component
- Spindle stop
- Position turret / tool, a little past bar centre to grip the bar, ready to pull bar forward.
- Unclamp chuck jaws – move the tool turret, to pull bar into new start position.
