The latest innovation in AMEC’s ground breaking GEN3SYS® high penetration drilling system is the new GEN3SYS ‘AS’ insert designed specifically for cutting stainless steels, which is being launched at MACH 2010.
Incorporating AMEC’s latest AM300 high performance coating formulation, it not only provides exceptional wear resistance, but also extends tool life. In combination with its tough and durable C2 substrate, the new GEN3SYS ‘AS’ inserts also incorporate a unique cutting geometry to give outstanding cutting performance when machining stainless steels, particularly austenitic stainless.
The new point geometry also provides increased strength to the ‘AS’ inserts range as well as improving penetration rates to the levels expected from the GEN3SYS range. The new stainless steel inserts are available in diameters ranging from 12.00mm up to 35.00mm and are suitable for use with both the helical and straight fluted holders from the 12 Series up to 32 Series.
AMEC’s Managing Director, Rod Crawford, explained: “From the day it was launched, GEN3SYS has continued to set new benchmarks for what can be achieved with replaceable insert drilling technology. With the launch of our new dedicated stainless steel geometry this latest innovation continues the process as GEN3SYS sets new standards for performance, productivity and tool life.”
Alongside the new GEN3SYS® stainless steel geometry inserts, MACH 2010 also sees the European launch of a number of new product ranges from AMEC, including the BT-A deep drilling system and the new polycrystalline diamond (PCD) range, which take centre stage on the company’s stand at the exhibition.
