The range and design of our natural and synthetic diamond tools cover virtually all imaginable industrial applications. Polycrystalline diamond (PCD) is generally recommended for the machining of non-ferrous workpiece materials where high abrasion resistance is required. Examples of typical workpiece materials are as follows: Metal matrix composites, Aluminium alloys, Copper, Brass, Bronze, Magnesium alloys, Ceramics, Fibre glass, Carbon fibre, Plastic, Rubber, Pre-sintered (green) and sintered tungsten carbide. Due to its high abrasion resistance, PCD is also ideal for use in wear part applications (both ferrous and non-ferrous contact surfaces).
PCBN (Polycrystalline Cubic Boron Nitride is the second hardest of the polycrystalline tool materials. It is recommended for machining hard ferrous materials of between 45 and 60 Rockwell (HRC), where the chip softening produced by the cutting heat reduces the amount of cutting energy required and promotes chip removal.
