New coated grades of Combidex threading inserts available from Advanced Carbide Tooling Ltd provide greatly extended tool life in a wide range of applications.

The inserts, which have been extensively tested, are designed for use on most materials at low to high cutting speeds, including difficult-to-machine stainless steel and aerospace materials.

The new FXA grade incorporates a multi-layer titanium-aluminium-nitride coating which results in particularly, effective heat dissipation generated by the cutting process, resulting in longer insert life.

The coating is applied by physical vapour deposition to a high-performance submicrograin carbide substrate.

A HSS Tin and TICN coated range of inserts allows slower cutting speeds for smaller diameters and production in difficult to machine 'sticky' materials, providing excellent thread quality.

A comprehensive range of holders gives Combidex customers the ability to produce threads externally, including difficult behind shoulder operations and internal threads down to 6mm minimum bore, all using economical three cutting edge inserts.
