Roller dressers are different in their technical characteristics and in their price according to the manufacturing process required.
Selection of a roller dresser is achieved through analysis of the grinding operation and the price-performance ratio. In some cases grain combinations are utilised.
The prominence of the copy rollers is growing due to the increasing flexibility of production and the spreading of CNC-grinding machines. Copy rollers are frequently replacing stationary dressers (non-rotating), such as single-grain dressers, multi-dressers and dressing plates.
The Production process of copy rollers "Direct Process" The diamond grains are fixed in position on an appropriate core, using a nickel layer deposited by electroplating. The dimensions of the core are smaller than that of the finished roller, due to the required grit sizes.
Rollers dressers precision is dependant on the grit size and grain shape of the diamonds, in addition to the accuracy of the core.
Main application areas:
- Single piece and small lot production with conventional grinding tools
- Mass production with vitrified bonded CBN wheels
